I've been on PEG Interefon for nearly a year (current dose 90mg weekly). I lose loads of hair but since September my hair has become noticeably thinner. It's like hair loss is now outweighing new growth - it cant keep up.
Question - if I have my hair highlighted will it further damage the hair?

I lost hair on hydroxy but continued having it coloured. I had various colours plus I had highlights via foils. It was always ok. Regained hair on Rux (including my moustache 😱) now on a combo of Rux and hydroxy so that must be confusing for the follicles!
I didn't lose hair on Hydroxy, but 4 months on Pegasys I lost tons of hair. Now on Jakafi, and the hair loss is slowing down, but hasn't stopped. My Dr. says it takes at least 90 days to fully exit your system. Hasn't been quite 90 days yet, so I am hopeful it will stop. I have my hair highlighted every 6 months or so, and it doesn't seem to make any difference to how much hair I lose.
I have foil highlights and no problem.. but colour doesn’t seem to last as long. I’ve a lot of hair shedding… and lately a very itchy scalp.. would appreciate any remedies for this …
Thank you 😊 I get itchy skin generally since I've been on Interferon and so have been prescribed Fexofenadine (antihistamine) and it doesn't make me drowsy.
I have PV , I have lost 1/2 the volume of my hair over 14 years, when I asked the doc 'is it the Hydroxy causing the hair fall, no not at all says he. skin still itches like nothing I have ever had , again . Q. Is it the Hydroxy causing this 'NO not at all'. Change of doc started coming to my Island, same questions asked , his answer was ' I am a blood doctor not a hairdresser. The Dermatologist treated the horrendous itching rash for all the time, eventually held up his hands to heaven (palms to the sky for divine guidance maybe )and finally said ' Well, I don't know what the cause of the rash is' . The skin on my legs feel like it could make a scammers crocodile purse. I GIVE UP! HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL .
I am on Interferon & hair a bit thinner but mine very long. I have high lights every 3 months & never changes it’s fine. It was my previous HU that reacted & caused hair loss with me. Grew back on Interferon 👍
