This article is on BBC Scotland's website today. I suspect it may have been on this forum before and maybe someone has experience of the trial? It is very interesting about research into the causes, specifically, of MPNs. It isn't just toenail clippings they are needing but also saliva and blood samples.

Yes I was asked if I would sign up for it at Southampton, I'm very pleased to help research in anyway so it was a no brainer to me. I managed to get a friend who is a few years older and has no MPN history to sign up as a 'control' participant. No real issues just a blood test then they send a kit to return the toe nail clippings and saliva test sample, then finally a fairly long (about 45 minutes) telephone interview answering many questions about my history, what industries I worked in, anything I was exposed to daily, diet, leisure and life style etc.
hi DJK12, this is the MOSAICC epidemiology study, MPN Voice has been supporting and funding this study since it started, and we are very excited by the results that have come out so far, we hope to bring results of further phases of the study sometime in 2024. It is a very exciting study. mpnvoice.org.uk/about-mpns/...
There are many centres open across the UK running the study, if anyone is interested in taking part, speak to your haematologist.
Hi Maz that is very interesting that some more results are due out in the coming year. I guess many of us, whatever type of MPN we have and and at whatever stage we're at, would like answers as to why we developed an MPN. I presume the article was prompted by the researchers wanting more volunteers?Best wishes for 2024
