Ive read posts on a couple of people on here that have PRV that have real bad tooth loss and or broken teeth. I noticed in their posts that it was after having PRV for a while.
Im in yr 18 of PRV and within the last year, all my upper teeth have broken off at the gum line. It was rather quickly and i have no reason why other than PRV. Ill have to get an upper denture soon(when i find employment and have insurance).
Any other prv patients experiencing tooth loss/ decay?

I've been on hydroxy for 5 years and about 2 years ago my back tooth just broke completely I didn't have any pain, then the enamel on another tooth broke off. I think it's too much of a coincidence to not connect it to pv. I probably should of been more proactive regards my treatment for pv but I let it pass without comment to my consultant.
hi, I’m not sure what PRV is, but I’m on hydroxy and really noticed that my teeth are more wobbly than when on the 18 month “sabbatical“ that I spent on Peg.
I had quick and serious decay, but I have a great dentist who's been able to fix everything. He said he never saw anything like it with somebody who previously had excellent teeth. At first I thought it was PV medication but then I changed meds several times and with the same outcome. So I assume it's caused by PV. For those of you who are starting to have damage to your teeth I would advise you to see your dentist and not wait. You may be able to save your teeth.
I’m so sorry you have no insurance! You need a dentist fast.
I have ET and am Besremi. That’s suppose to cause teeth loss in some people. I’m wondering if it’s the PV.
Logical thinking tells me to check calcium and Vit D levels and all vitamins and minerals. All illnesses and treatments cause some sort of nutrient deficiency or other. A lack of vitamin D, and or calcium can cause osteoporosis, brittle bones and also teeth problems.
Please get insurance, somehow. Find someone to help you with that. 🙏
Hi, not sure what PRV is, but I was on HU for 20 years for MF ..and over the past 8 years have been losing many teeth..they gradually push further out of my gums, then loosen and fall out…now only have 4 top teeth left..and some bottom ones gone too. I am the same age as you..didn’t expect to have to wear dentures so young !
I have not ever heard of PV being related to the type of dental issues you describe. It can result from different issues (e.g. plaque/tartar buildup, calcium deficiency). Teeth breaking is an emergent issue that requires urgent attention. If you are between jobs, suggest accessing Medicaid or other assistance programs. This is not an issue to wait on.
I’m presently completing expensive dental work (3 crowns and 3 cavities) for 2nd yr in a row. I had been brushing 2x/day and flossing before bed. My gum lines are receding and the decay is occurring on the part of the tooth with little enamel. So besides now brushing after eating anything and flossing, here’s a good tip for you if you suffer receding gums. Look for a toothpaste with the ingredient Hydroyapatite. It helps to harden the exposed part of the tooth.
