So my red blood cells elevated 5.64, hemoglobin 16.0 and my hemocrit 49.6.Epo was normal my blood smear only says final Diagnosis polycythemia which I assume is secondary.
So I got grandparents and cousins who had leukimia..
Plus I have factor 5 leiden and am on blood thinners...
So I don't take asprin cuz I'm on blood thinners, I injured my left arm and now that I am taking b complex vitamins and vitamin d my arm hurts less.
My doc and lab told me my jak2 test would take 4 to6 days it's been 10 days and I'm ready to know..
It's like am I waiting to be told I am gonna die or what lol.. Yes I have anxiety from hell lol..
Thoughts..
Fyi the rest of my cbc was fine platelets and wbc is good.
I do have night sweats and my back it he's like crazy.

It stinks to have to wait whilst sitting on pins and needles. Not to worry too much though. Even if you do have PV, chances are yo would live a normal lifespan with the treatment options we have now. I was diagnosed with ET over 30 years ago. It progressed to PV about 10 years ago. I am doing well and feel better now than I did 10 years ago.
I would try to take a deep breath and put it in perspective. When you're first diagnosed, it can really rattle you, but over time you get to see that you can live with it. As Hunter says, there are good treatment options. Yes, there are side effects with some of the medications. Yes, there's the fatigue. But I'm trying to do my best not to let it limit me. And so far, I'm doing pretty okay...
