Understanding BMB

Hi, Reading other members' interpretations of their BMB reports has led me to look at mine more closely, and would value your input.

I had my second one over a year ago and was told like my first one everything was fine - no fibrosis. I have PV and take Rux. I didn't question it.

However, In the Trephine section it states "Mild fragmentation to one pole of the sample noted. Cellularity is mildly increased for age ( approx 30-40%). Megakaryocytes are easily seen with only mild loose clustering. Occasional hyperlobulated megakaryocyte nucleus seen. Mixed erythroid and granulocytic elements noted with no immature infiltrate. Reteculin is not significantly increased ( grade 1, WHO)"

This is like a foreign language to me, but the grade 1 reference makes me think I should have questioned it.

Any thoughts appreciated and thank you for reading.

hello JP1952, you could ask your haematology nurse specialist about the result, so that she/he can explain what it means. Best wishes, Maz
