Oxygen therapy

Hi guys,

I was trying to find in older posts something about oxygen therapy but didn't find anything. My friend recommends me home oxygen therapy, she is using home oxygen concentrator. It was recommended for her 2 years old son by a doctor from hospital. Her son's physical and mental development is a little bit delayed and she said the oxygen therapy is making miracles for her son. The therapy should be also very good for people who suffer from fatigue, shortness of breath... it is also good for immunity and mental health. I was wondering if this treatment is recommended for PV patients. Have you ever heard about this in connection with our disease?

I have to use oxygen because my lungs were damaged from blood clots. Adding supplemental oxygen without a doctor overseeing it is very risky & foolish. You need a doctor who can help you test the levels of oxygen in your blood (oxygen saturation) at different times to decide if it will be helpful or harmful. The air we breath is not all oxygen but what you breath through a concentrator is all oxygen. Very dangerous to play around with this. Completely understand your desire for a solution to fatigue. I no longer drink caffeine except when needed to fight my 5pm fatigue (or my migraines). You might try that instead. Good luck

hi DariBee, you should speak to your haematologist about this for her/his advice. Best wishes, Maz

Yes, I know it but it is not for us. We need to have a CO2 and O2 level balanced. If you can read a book, tell me because if we breath properly, it is the best for us.
