Just to let all the kind folk who commented on / gave advice on my colon surgery. The operation went ahead as planned and according to the surgical team had no complications arising either from my PV or otherwise, the tumour was successfully removed along with a number of lymph nodes.
I was discharged from hospital on Friday evening and recommenced HU and aspirin on Wednesday and whilst the NHS is brilliant there’s no place like home. The only issue was that on Thursday someone was admitted on to the ward with Covid (even though you’re tested 3 days before surgery and on admission) the poor guy was admitted early evening and when I woke up he’d gone. I was tested Friday morning and as the hospital haven’t been in touch I can assume I’m ok.
So I’ve got very fetching surgical stockings to wear for the rest of the month and a self-administered blood thinning injection each night and due to the current Covid situation I also am required to self-isolate for 10 days.
I would reiterate to anyone who needs surgery with an MPN to ensure the surgical team and your haematologist liaise from the outset.
Thanks for your support.

Sounds like things went well with the surgery. Glad to hear it. You are absolutely 100% correct about consultation between any surgeon and your MPN care team. It is vital.
Sorry to hear about the potential COVID exposure. While the risk sounds low, I would still be sure to get your results. It is very reasonable to want to verify the negative test result.
Hope your recovery continues without event. All the best.
Pleased all went well for you Gordon. You're right it's always good to get back home and I wish you a speedy recovery in the comfort of your own home there. Chris
Glad to hear the surgery went well. With our condition and the state of Covid in the world, nobody wants to stay in a hospital. I hope you continue to do well.
