Covid 3rd Jab

I went for my 3rd jab today. I asked if it was Madurna or Pfizer. They said Madurna. I said I can't have Madurna as its only half does, the doctor asked was it Madurna or just because it was half dose. I couldn't remember and didn't have the letter with me as doctors practice were only doing Pfizer when my wife went. I said was going by information from Public Health England, Blood Cancer UK and MPN Voice. Doc said OK, but we are only giving Pfizer to under 18 year old due to number of doses, but I'll check as extra should have thawed. She never complained, in fact apologised for keeping me waiting. I had the Pfizer. They obviously went aware of the full dose Pfizer for people with PV. But never argued, just accepted what I said. Success.

The Pfizer has 30mcg dose. The Moderna booster has 50mcg for booster dose, and 100mcg for regular and "extra" dose" that immune compromised get. This is for the US, I know UK has different words for the various doses.

But in all cases Moderna has more vax than Pfizer so it's ok to get the Moderna if you are concerned about dose size.

I drove 15 miles yesterday for my 3rd/ booster jab. And the nurse and I got into a terrible muddle. I asked if she could aspirate the injection, ie needle enters arm and is withdrawn a centimetre to check if there is blood in syringe ie did it hit muscle or vein. It went rapidly downhill. Why did I want this. I knew I wasn't going to win by telling her it was standard good practice. So I said I had polycythemia. She said this is a very common disease. I argued it wasn't, and it was a long lasting blood cancer. The toys started flying. She denied my interpretation. She decided she had to take advice, called my health centre who confirmed what I said. Then said I was to have a half dose. I said ok could she aspirate. I would lay money that she didn't. I have tried to do it when injecting interferon in my stomach, as I have hit a vein about 1 in 100 times. So I know the movements. I can't any make sense of this experience. And to cap it all I have had a very strong reaction. I am not going back to that centre again!! In my local health centre they accept it's ok to use small needles in my poor veins. I just can't work out why all this fuss happened.

Hope you're feeling better.Just to comment that of course hcp would want to seek advice from another hcp rather than taking your word for it.... Anyone could walk in saying they had xyz for whatever reason.

Plus local protocols prohibit aspiration. Please treat vaccination centre staff as skilled professionals doing their job well.

We are lucky to have an NHS 🙏

Thank you for this helpful reply. I am much better but not back to normal yet. I didn't know local protocols say no aspiration. That's good to know. We had very polite exchabge it was just I was so confused by it. On the point about nurses and docs knowing their job I find they sometimes need a little guidance. Especially on veins and venesections. I travelled a lot in the first years of having PV and met many lovely professionals who were pleased to extend their knowledge. 16 years of having PV has taught me so much. Thank you again.

Unfortunately many of the people giving vaccinations in the UK have only done an on-line course in giving vaccinations and are in no way, health care professionals. I discussed this with one of the people involved with setting up the course. Getting vaccinations given to as many people as possible was the most important criteria.

Peer reviewed research shows that injecting Covid vaccinations into the blood vessels in mice results in some of the serious vaccination so-called side effects. The Covid vaccinations are not licensed to be given Intravenously, yet many have been given into blood vessels inadvertently. The quickest sign of this is that the patient reports a strange taste within minutes as the drug spreads rapidly in the bloodstream.

These could well have been prevented if a simple drawing back on the plunger was done after inserting the needle to ensure that it had not hit a blood vessel. It is the correct way to give any I.M. injection. Some I.M. injections are lethal, very rapidly, if given I.V. inadvertently.

A muscle without blood vessels would be necrotic tissue.

Local protocols disallow this.Hcps are on site and supervise.

We all have to start somewhere.

Really sorry to hear you’ve had a strong reaction to the drug. My daughter also had a very strong reaction to the second dose, she had to have a week off of work, something she doesn’t do lightly.

I haven’t got a clue about aspiration, so can’t comment on that, but to deny your interpretation of your own disease is belittling.

I have ET and had two health care professionals (not haematologist or GP) say to me, so you’ve got ‘thrombocytopenia’ 🤔. So, yes, I agree with you sometimes a little guidance is essential!

Hope you recover soon
