Hi. Just wanted to share my experience of the antibody tests. I have PV and I am on Hydroxy and Aspirin. I had Pfizer as my covid vaccine (2nd one in April). During the summer I had an antibody test by the GP at my request and it came back with no detectable antibodies. When Blood Cancer Uk advertised for people to take part in their antibody survey I volunteered because if I don;t have antibodies I want people to know so that more research can be done. Unfortunately, for some reason this antibody test didn't work. I applied again, but by the time I got to take the test it was 10 days after my 3rd vaccine (the study says you can apply regardless whether you have had 2 or 3 vaccines). I got the result today and they detected antibodies! I know this doesn't tell me how many I have or their quality, or even if hydroxy will kill them all off over the next few weeks, but it does show that you can develop antibodies after the 3rd vaccine even if you had none after the first two. I just thought people would like to know and to give some hope to those who didn't have antibodies after their first two vaccines.

Covid Antibodies after 3rd Dose
Hi, I'm on the ONS study, so have regular antibody tests. I'm happy to say that my antibodies have returned after my third dose; they'd been absent for the two previous months. I've splashed out on a Testing for All test so that I can see how the actual number of antibodies compares with those I'd had previously (before they went AWOL).
Hi MW, Many Thanks for sharing your encouraging result and for wanting to take part in the survey to further knowledge. I sincerely hope that there is a serious on going body of research around cancer , it's treatment and the efficacy of vaccines on those affected. And hopefully a back up plan including regular reliable antibody checks so that we can feel relatively safe getting on with our lives alongside everyone else. I hope this happens in the next 6 months. Of course any resulting report with recommendations will need endorsing and acting upon by the powers that be. Like you I live in hope.
Regards - Chris
Thanks I didn’t know about the anti body trials
Thanks so much.Personally I think those of us who are on regular chemo should have regular antibody tests. How we do that I have no idea. Louise
Hi have had Antibodies since my second dose of AZ. I have been with the ONS/Government/Oxford University study since last year, and started the Antibodies test this year after my second dose, they were still there last month which was encouraging, had my third dose this time Pfizer in October as well, so keeping fingers crossed it has boosted them when I test again this month. It makes me feel more reassured every month to know I have Antibodies, but I still take precautions when out and about.
Its good news that you have them as well, long may they last.
