Is it possible to get travel insurance with a diagnosis of Myleofibrosis?

I have recently been diagnosed with MF after 10 years of ET. Horrible shock and still coming to terms with it - been in tears most of today! Anyway have decided that as I am currently not on meds and feeling well that I am starting my bucket list early!😀

I have holiday insurance with my bank which will cover me for Europe but not for the US. My best friend and I would like to go to Vegas for our joint 50th birthdays ( not yet obviously but when Covid is more manageable) Has anyone with MF managed to get holiday insurance to the US? I imagine it will be horribly expensive but I am more concerned as to whether it is possible to get the insurance or not. Hope that everyone who reads this is well and is having a good day.

Many thanks x

Most insurers will cover as long as the condition is underwritten. I get cover for CLL but the cost is 6x what my partner pays. Shop around and use the larger reputable insurers. Cover is more important than cost should something go wrong.

Hi Monaco50, we have a list of companies that have been recommended by people with MPNs, though we can't guarantee that they will provide cover:mpnvoice.org.uk/wp-content/...

Best wishes, Maz

It is a shock to be told you have MF especially when you have planned to travel. My bank travel insurance would not cover my condition and found it hard to get anyone to cover me for MF even though I am on no medication or requiring transfusions. I was given a number to phone and they put me in touch with JustTravelcover.com you answer a few questions about your condition and they come up with a few policies which you can choose from. I have used them to go to China Japan and South Korea on a cruise and I went to the Caribbean but because we flew it to Miami that really bumped up the costs. So I try to avoid the USA as the costs can be quite high. Hope this helps and best wishes for your future travels.

You will need your platelet count and I think your HB count when you ring up for a quote .

Yes. Just declare underlying condition. Chance are it will be better to get o. a plane and return for treatment. This accident insurance is for catastrophe .
