I just had second Oxford vaccine shot yesterday, slight headache and fatigue but nothing major. i usually have a few glasses of wine at the weekend, ie one per day, has anyone heard any facts about whether its ok to drink in moderation post shot in terms of ones immune system mounting a antibody response , there seems to be varying answers from Dr Google?

Yes, I heard the Government's chief medical scientist state it wasn't a good idea to drink either before the jab and up to 2 weeks after the jab. Tina.🤗

Oh dear - I had no idea! I had my 2nd AZ Vaccine nearly two weeks ago. I had it on the Wednesday and had a glass of wine on the Saturday and Sunday.... It's too late for me now. But, thanks for the info Tina.

🤣🤣 I wouldn't worry Kari, I don't think a glass or 2 of wine will do any harm, I think its aimed at people drinking over the limits. Tina.x🤗

I’ve heard it suggested that heavy drinking should be avoided, as it can weaken your immune response, but that moderate drinking shouldn’t have any major effect on the vaccine efficacy.

I had a few drinks within a few days of each jab but nothing major and nothing 48 hours before/after.

Cheers!

I felt quite rough after my first jab but the fact that we had our valentines meal that same night and shared a bottle of wine might not have helped. With hindsight it probably wasn’t the wisest move but too late to worry. Was a bit more careful the second time round

Interesting. First I've heard of this. You'd think that the people giving you the jab would mention it. All I was told was to sit in the car for 15 minutes before driving and handed a leaflet on side effects.

Hi Ainslie, , I was told to keep of the vino / ale for the evening of the day of my jab but only precautionary advice from the nurse administering my jab in case I had an adverse reaction.

My neighbour had hers and that evening they had a couple of friends round for a catch up and she had a several beers and possibly wine. She was really poorly over the following few days and as she drinks regularly I think it was the combination of the jab and the booze that made her so poorly.

As Andy T says I think the advice is more aimed at those who over indulge rather than those of us who drink alcohol in moderation.

As far as I can see there are no warnings on the leaflet that accompanied the vaccine and I would of thought if any level,of alchohol would reduce its efficacy it would be flagged up there.

Keep calm and carry on drinking vino in moderation say I 🍷🍷

Everything in moderation ! I think the medics think everone goes mad if told they can drink. I'm sure many of us can stop at a glass of wine with dinner!

And I do have antibodies a week after 2nd jab and 13 months after low level covid ! (Biobank test)

I was given no advice other than to sit in the car for 15mins if I was driving and that's it.

The UK regulator has today said social media reports saying alcohol affects the vaccine are wrong. There is no evidence to suggest it does,
