Alcohol on same day as Pegasys shot, yay or nay?

Has anyone consumed alcohol prior to taking pegasys, on the same day? I’m normally well behaved but on holiday tonight and the cocktail menu looks hard to resist 😂 Can’t delay peg injection for logistical reasons.

As a rule I only have alcohol at weekends with lots of water (injections on Wednesday) but recently during a bereavement I threw caution to the wind and was fine. It made no difference but I drank loads of water to compensate. Am back to normal now and wouldn’t recommend doing so but that was my experience

I have one to two drinks most days. I do not adjust for my Pegasys injection. This has never caused a problem.

Per the ePocrates drug interaction check there is no interaction between Pegasys and ethanol. Having said that, both can be a bit hard on the liver. Suggest that moderation would be the order of the day along with good hydration. I have had a nice shot of whiskey on PEG days with no issues.

Sláinte!

Yes, I have had a glass of wine or 2! No issues at all. I drink a lot of water as well!

I agree with the others, lots of water required and don't drink too much!

I have whenever the fancy takes, though I’m I have found that I have lost the ‘taste’ for alcohol, nevertheless who would miss a nice cocktail on holiday. Enjoy

I never drink on injection day (or day prior or after). I did once but didn’t feel great. Guess it’s different for each individual .

How did you get on? What Cocktails did you choose?

Sorry I missed your comment threelions! I did in fact survive to tell the tale 😂 Had a couple of nice gin cocktails and that was the limit. Didn’t feel any worse than usual so while I won’t make a habit of it, good to know it’s an option

I just had a beer after my pegasys injection. Sometimes feel like a deserve something after sticking myself. It appears ok for my system but usually only have one. It seems to me (while not based on any hard evidence), that the injection goes into fat and then slowly dissipates to the bloodstream. I think the time of injection does not have a huge effect on the amount of pegasys in bloodstream.

Have fun!
