Hi to you all,

I am 59 in fairly good health at have had ET for 10 years + and just on asprin. My platelets are usually 500 -580 ish. Just wondering if you clever lot have any insight into going for the vaccine - I don't know which one I will get. Are there questions I should ask? Things to look out for? Have you had side effects? Anything I should do following the vaccine? Anything I can do to help myself. I must say I am so thrilled to be going and looking forward to feeling even a little bit less anxious. Thanks anyway, stay safe you all

Hi Cassandra61, I’m slightly similar, ET + Jak 2 my platelets are stable around the 800-850 level, on baby aspirin 75mg every day. I had the jab (AstraZeneca) just over 10 days ago, the 36 hours afterwards were pretty rough. The night after the jab I went to bed with a temp of just over 100f, the fever broke after a few hours in bed; change of PJs and the next morning felt quite wiped out. By the afternoon I felt so much better I couldn’t believe it. And by that evening I was back to being a 100%. My thoughts were if this is what covid is like I definitely don’t want it. I am only giving you my personal experience; lots of people have had the jab without any side affects such as my Grand parents who are in their mid 90s or my parents who are in their 70s. Wishing you all the very best.

Jim

I have ET and had my vaccination (AstraZeneca) 8 days ago. I had no side effects, not even a sore arm. Others in my family- non MPNers- all had side effects, mainly feeling cold and muscle ache but all agreed better than Covid!

Glad all of this cleared away but a ghastly experience for you - TBH glad to be going and feeling a little bit of protection is better than none.

Hi, I am 71 ET Jak+. had the Pfizer vaccine 10 days ago, no problems whatsoever. Slight arm soreness for about 48 hours. Love the fact that I am now getting some protection from covid. It begins at 10 to 14 days with vaccination, full effect at 7 days after second dose with the Pfizer. 8 other family members have received this vaccine without any problems. The CDC has all the information available for the vaccines on their website. Good luck to you.
