Hi everyone, just wondering how long after testing positive for covid should I have a covid Jab. I have MF and have taken anti viral for past 5 days. No real side effects just a weird taste in mouth. Thanks Jude.

Thank you, I cancelled my covid jab for next week and gp said book for 4 weeks time, I think I will wait as still not 100%. Jude
Hi, I have ET but just completed 7.5 months of chemo for another cancer. I finished antivirals yesterday and was unsure as to when to get vaccines. I wondered whether I would have natural immunity with being on the antivirals? Your question is therefore very timely. I hope you are doing as well as you can be. Xx
Hi, I took anti viral s for 5 days, starting to feel bit better thank you. You just can't tell how long your immunity will last. It seems Covid is on the rise so I have booked a jab for October 30 My son and daughter in law returned from a cruise last week and have covid, as lots of other people who returned. Take care, keep well

Hi Jude, yes It’s a bit of a lottery I think. Despite being on antivirals and antibiotics I’m still testing Covid positive 10 days in but definitely improving. I’m delaying my covid jab and flu jab though as both were due next week. Do keep getting better. Let’s hope for a healthy winter. Xx
I think that's a good idea to delay which I have also done. So pleased you are improving, I tested positive last Sunday and hubbie on Wednesday , yes let's hope for a healthy winter. My consultant appointment was last week and numbers were stable, which is always a relief Take care

when we had Covid this year after returning from overseas, the pharmacist said my husband would not need a Covid booster for 6 months as he now had natural immunity.
To me she said I would have 4 months maybe since my immune system was not as strong.
As it turned out my husband came down with Covid just over a week after he recovered. The SIL returned from NZ sick and he visited them unawares. Then Alan’s daughter found she had Covid, so a different strain got my hubby I guess 😬 I kept my distance 😊
That's interesting, I suppose we all have different immunity, I have booked covid Jab for 30th October. Thanks for the info. Best wishes jude
Best is to talk to your hematologist. You need to test negative first, before taking the vaccine.
People do make claims about "natural immunity" after infection, but reality shows another SARS-COV2 infection can happen rather soon after just recovering from an earlier infection. There are many SARS-COV2 variants in circulation and immunity does not seem to be long-lived.
If you test negative and can access the vaccine, probably it makes sense to inquire if you can take it, as you have MF and immunity is often affected in MF.
Good advice thanks. The test line now is very feint, when I spoke to consultant last week at three monthly review, she asked if I had taken all my jabs so I'm pretty sure she will encourage me to take up the vaccine booster as I have had five previously. Will definitely wait until I am negative and feel better. Best wishes Jude
