Vaccin Covid vs Policitemia Vera

hello Cata, the advice from Prof Harrison is that all are fine with vaccine in general, and she has also advised that all decisions regarding the vaccine will be taken, bearing in mind relative risk… vaccine V disease.
Your own haematology team will be able to advise you further as they have all your medical details.
best wishes, Maz

If you want more info there was a webinar yesterday streamed on youtube- Zoe covid vaccine rollout webinar. Run by the team behind the Zoe covid symptom tracker app that has over 4.5million UK residents logging in daily with any symptoms etc and is helping to give data on cases. They had 5 top professionals and 1 of the team from the Joint vaccine committee Kate Bingham and also Dr Anna Goodman who has been running the pfizer vaccine trial in the UK.They were all very much of the agreement that if you are invited for the vaccine have it. They suggested to encourage all patients to have unless pregnant (where its best to defer as they haven't got enough evidence yet for that group), possibly some issues with blood thinners and those with severe allergies in view of the 2 cases of an allergy reaction in NHS staff this week. Both of those staff were known to have a history of severe allergy. It would then be a matter of weighing up the risks of being very poorly with covid or risks of severe allergy for those patients. All the vaccine sites will have staff trained in anaphylaxsis so there is potential those with severe allergies who carry epipens may still go onto have it with medical back up.
Hope that is helpful but do check out the webinar from yesterday.
The Zoe app is also going to start asking people if they have had the vaccine and any symptoms they experience from it so def worth logging in with them so you can get the up to date data and also info re cases in your area.
