I was being foolish as I was skateboarding in the house, but wasn't going that fast. Anyway, I hit a rubber bump that separates the kitchen and the living room and next thing I know, the board is flying and I am falling. When I hit the floor, I was in the most painful agony I have ever felt in my life. Screaming at the top of my lungs.
I had instantly broken my upper femur, as soon as I fell. Normally it takes a car accident to break your femur. I later Googled it, and yes.. PV does cause weak bones. So Be Careful! If you ski, you are walking a thin line. I know I will be way more careful from now on! It's been about a month and I now have a metal rod In my thigh, and some nails. Should be interesting going through TSA!

Oh wow...I'm sorry to hear that. I can't imagine what that felt like. I have suspected that MPNs cause weak bones because I often feel like I'm walking on broken bones. My car has a heavy clutch in it and there have been times when I have pushed it down and it felt like I was breaking something in my foot...hard to describe the feeling. Anyway for anyone wanting more info on this here is an article:
I slipped on the ice 4 years go and broke an elbow. I was diagnosed with Osteopenia and have been taking calcium and vitamin D ever since. I don’t know if it has anything to do with PV (14 years) but my GP said anyone over the age of 60 that breaks a bone is given a dexa bone scan, so I think age comes into it as well.
I have no idea regarding weak bones but simply wanted to congratulate you for skateboarding in the house. I know you said it was foolish (and it likely was) but it really reminded me how important it is to make sure we all try and enjoy ourselves and be held back by our conditions 👍😀
