Hi.... having a mpn puts you in category 4.... you should of had your vaccine or be having it by the middle of February.

Hello. I have the same as you although I am taking Hydroxycarbamide . I am booked in for Saturday for my vaccine. I think you also should be in this category. Maybe give your doctor or consultant a call. Take care x

I sent Blood Cancer UK and cut and pasted relevant section to GP. Within an hour they had classed me as Clinically Extremely Vulnerable and updated Welsh government and received shielding letter a week ago. Having vaccine tomorrow.

Hi, I'm still waiting to be offered the covid vaccine. I have Polycythaemia Rubra Vera (JAk2) still waiting , but my doctor told me I probably won't be a priority as I'm 27 so not an at risk age category... Fingers crossed it's soon! 🤞🤞

Hello Ellafea - it makes me SO angry when I hear younger MPNers are being told they are not priority for the vaccine - ALL MPNers should be in group 4 - please check the info on MPNvoice on eligibility for the vaccine, also the blood cancer U.K. site - you should be in group 4!!! Try ringing the 119 number, give them that info + see if they will book you - good luck. Anne-Marie.

I have PV on Hydroxy and aspirin and I'm also in group 6 (at risk 16 to 65-year-olds). My surgery has said that I should be getting mine within the next few weeks.

Did you receive a shielding letter kari?

I did for the first lockdown, but not this one. I've just received a call from my surgery, my vaccine appointment is Monday 22nd Feb at 9am. :)

Hi, I'm the same as yourself and in early 50's. Heamotolog consultant say I'm not required to sheild, GP said Heam needs to confirm but If come under this catorgory. I'm guessing I'll be group 6.

I can't fault my GP Surgery - They are really ploughing through this with great organisation. As I said before, on their system I was group 6 at risk, but I've got my vaccine appointment in just over a weeks time. Last week they also got my Jury Service request deferred until the end of the year - I was due to start it in March. My GP phoned me and it was sorted asap. I feel sorry for everyone who is experiencing difficulties... I didn't phone to ask to have my grouping reviewed, but if I wasn't called today for mine, I would have started to.

Hi, has anyone here had any success in getting their category changed by calling 119? I am 64 and have had PV for 15 years, I've been on hydroxy for the last 9 years. Recently I am showing signs of transforming to MF but this can only really be confirmed with a bone marrow biopsy. I would prefer to have had at least one dose of vaccine before having a hospital procedure. My haematologist and GP say that I am category 6 as I am not more at risk of catching Covid. My 66 year old perfectly fit husband is having his vaccine today. I have argued with both my GP and haematologist about this and neither will change my category. The GP site has a message asking that people do not phone to discuss their place the vaccine queue so I'm reluctant to contact them again.

If anyone has succeeded through 119 then it might be worth me giving that a try.

Sorry for the lengthy post but it's all a bit frustrating.

Sue

I had to argue my case with GP to move me from 6 to 4 despite having a letter from my haematologist!! Blood cancer UK has a letter/info sheet saying to GPs that ALL MPN patients should be in group 4 for the vaccine. Got mine 1st February.
