Update on Husband

Hi all -

We got the results back last week from my husband's JAK2 test. It was negative. Since then he has had 5 phlebotomies (one each week) and his Hemoglobin has come down from 21 to 14.5. No enlarged spleen. Platelets, WBC, and EPO are all normal. My husband feels 10 years younger. No more headaches, or tingling in hands and feet. And, his face is no longer constantly red. The Hematologist is learning towards Secondary Polycythemia and thinking it's being caused by the testosterone or sleep apnea. Hubby has discontinued testosterone treatment for now, but plan is to add in eventually and monitor his blood counts.

Feeling a bit relieved now that we have more information. The not knowing really is the worst part.

I really wanted to say thank you to this community that I have leaned on for the last 5-6 weeks. The support and information has been invaluable.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving (those of you that celebrate) and Happy Holidays to everyone else.
