I had difficulty lowering my platelet count while I was taking Hydroxycarbamide. I was changed to Busulfan which gradually brought the count down.

Really pleased for you. I do hope the results continue to be promising as I’m at the end of my tether. At the moment I’m stable thank goodness because I’ve vowed not to increase my hydroxi any more.

I had the same experience many years ago but was there no safer alternative to Busulphan? That is a very harsh drug and rarely used in under 80s nowadays

I do hope that your treatment regimen works for you without undue side effects. Busulfan is a third tier drug choice, so would be interested to hear why you chose it over PEGylated Interferon or Ruxolitinib. We are all different in how our MPN presents and in how we react to the various medications. The more we share our experiences, the more we can all learn.

Wishing you all the best and success in your treatment approach.
