Determination!

Today should have been my youngest son’s wedding day. I set myself goals in life to get to as I know I have a life-limiting disease. The wedding postponement has given me another goal to work towards! But just in case I don’t make it to that one they have announced that another grandchild for me is due in October. As my lovely future daughter-in-law has said they will now have to delay the wedding until she can get back into the dress! Life is full of delights even in these uncertain times. I now need to be here about this time next year! If it works on willpower I will be!

My doctor’s surgery have offered me a blood test at a different site that is designated “Covid free”. Because of the way this virus seems to work I don’t think they can guarantee that but at least they are making an effort to protect their shielding patients. I have now had three food parcels from the government despite re-registering to say I don’t need them. I am passing most of it onto the local food bank so it is still being made good use of

Keep well and stay safe everyone, Jan x

Every cloud .... Lovely to have (some different) exciting news to look forward to.

Yes, we’re on to our third govt food box despite saying we didn’t need it and that too has gone to the local food bank - minus the bread the squirrels broke into before the box had even been taken off the front drive!

Hi Jan,

I can imagine how disappointed you must have felt when the wedding was cancelled. What better way to lessen this blow than the wonderful news of another grandchild on the way. Congratulations, I’m delighted for you.

I do hope your condition remains stable for the wedding next year. You have a wonderful exciting goal for this year at least, enjoy every moment.

P.S.... re blood test...i was not happy about going out to the surgery to get my blood test, I told the receptionist this. She left me on hold to ask someone, then came back to me to say the nurse will come to the house to do it. She arrived all shielded , I put on my partners wood sanding mask!!! So I felt totally safe. It was fitted in to her daily round.

It would be really worth your asking if they could do this for you.

Best wishes Sandy x

Hi Sandie. I really am in 2 minds about that. I wipe my groceries and leave my post in quarantine for 3 days in order to keep my little nest secure! Probably OTT but better safe than sorry! I don’t like the idea of someone invading my space as I don’t think she’d take too kindly to being wiped or quarantined!!!! At least I can bin my mask and change my clothes when I come in. I have no idea where the district nurse has been before me. I wonder how other people feel about it?

Hi Jan. yes put that way I can see the reasoning there, makes sense to me.

It certainly better to be OTT than getting complacent. I too, wipe my groceries , I first did it with tea tree oil, obviously diluted down, but things did have a slight odour , but I don’t mind that !!

I don’t know how other people feel, but I am actually quite nervous for the time we will be allowed out into the great outdoors, I certainly won’t be rushing for that time.... But will be so wonderful when we can get together with our families....meanwhile we must take care.

Stay safe

Hi Jan, , many Congratulations on your forthcoming Grandchild, lovely news and defo something joyous to look forward to. . . 🙌. . Shame about the nuptials, obviously disappointing because theres nothing like a good wedding to lift ones spirits and i find it life affirming to see two people in love making a commitment to one another.

Your positivity about the situation is inspiring and when it happens you will enjoy the occasion all the more for it I'm sure.

Keep well my friend - Chris x

Thanks Chris. The knitting needles could be red hot by October! In the initial stages of this virus the boys were trying to work out how to relay the Wedding proceedings to me via the internet. One of them sells video conferencing software for a living so I’m sure they would have done a great job. My youngest son had apparently said that he didn’t want me to come to his wedding if it meant that I would be at risk of not being here to meet my next grandchild. I am privately pleased that the wedding celebrations didn’t go ahead without me (how awful is that!!). It’s all to look forward to now😁

You stay safe and keep well too my friend x

Hi I received an unwanted food box so I went online to unregistered but another one came the following week, I asked the driver to take it back and he made a note that I no longer required them. It's not too difficult to off load them but I made the decision not to risk taking them to food banks. Maybe you're lucky to be able to get them picked up.
