Hi everyone. I have a throat that feels like razor blades , sore chest and cough

Does everyone still take their hydroxy ( 2 a day ). Had my flu jab and pneumonia jab but these nasty colds seem to take hold .... Hope your all feeling well X pippa

Hi Pippa63, so sorry to hear you have a bad throat and chest, I hope you feel better soon. You must continue with your hydroxycarbamide, however, if you are concerned then you must get advice from your consultant or your nurse specialist, you should have a nurse specialist at your haematology department you can contact for advice like this. Hi Pippa63. Yes I still take my hydroxy with whatever bug I pick up and yes i've also had my flu jab and yes it is that time of year when the sniffles & coughs start. I'd been struggling for weeks to shift what I thought was the standard thing but went for Asthma & Copd review on thursday and told the nurse and she did checks said I needed the dreaded Antibiotics 'which I hate taking because of building up resistance to them' and steroids to be taken 6 a day in one go and new 3 in 1 inhaler as well as my reliever. Nurse quipped she normally as patients begging for Antibiotics when they get a sniffle not people like me trying to find every excuse why I don't need them! But she is a new nurse,as my old one had just retired and new me well. But I must confess 3 days in the Antibiotics plus Steroids seem to have perked me up and I was watching the England verses the mighty All Blacks this morning and I thought I was actually on the pitch with them with my cheers and fists in the air! Got to admit i'm feeling it now with the tiredness but all in all a good day. Atb,tina.🤗

Thanks Tico. I will get advise if it gets worse from my GP next week as we don't have a specialist nurse at my clinic I will carry on with the hydroxy keep well.

Hi Pippa, I have been taken off hydroxy 4 months ago.....but like you at moment, feels like I am swallowing razor blades, and dreadful cough 😒 hope you are better soon, 💞
