I've been on rux now named jakafi for 7 years I've never mentioned anything to my hairdresser and have been having my hair coloured regularly all that time. Mind you the strand test sounds sensible as these drugs affect us all in different ways. I just think we want to look as good as we can you go for it!!

How very dare you - please be assured that my hair is naturally 3 shades of red, plus blonde high lights! Of course I colour it - first question I asked too. Always do a skin test though!

I was on hydroxy for 3 years, been on Anagrelide for quite a few years now. I used to colour my hair myself but when I started on hydroxy I went to the hairdressers and had highlights via foils in case my scalp was affected. Nowadays I sometimes colour it myself and sometimes go to the hairdressers. I hate to see any grey coming through. I always do a patch test in a couple of places on my scalp and on my hands even when it's a product I've used before in case they've changed the recipe. If I'm going to the hairdressers I call in the week before to have patch tests from there. I think, as with everything else to do with MPN's, is just be careful and aware. If you feel any sort of reaction during the colouring process rinse it off asap. Happy colouring ! x
