Let us know how you get on.

I was with AVIVA and I know quite a number of others have had successful claims with them. It’s difficult at your stage because you don’t want to get your hopes up as a windfall when diagnosed with something like this can be a very positive thing not only for your bank balance but also your mental health. I really hope her claim is successful.

Will do thanks.my wife seems to think she won’t get at as she knows someone who was unsuccessful.they are police officers and through their insurance company called philip Williams.i know it seems silly but I also thought if they came back and said no as it wasn’t serious enough I would take some comfort from that.but it’s just head in sand a bit.i don’t have the illness but it’s heartbreaking some days watching her struggle with her symptoms.thanks for the reply and will let you know what happens.

It really is a a lot to get your head around. I know exactly what you mean in taking comfort in not being paid out. When you receive a payment it is confirmation that this is serious...

However, I focus on the positives, in my mind if you’re going to have cancer it would be the one I’d choose. The life expectancy is normal which I take huge comfort in and although there are chances of it morphing in to something more sinister it’s a small chance. I think of it like diabetes, a chronic condition that can be managed. Luckily my side effects right now mean I can live a relatively normal life but also I choose to see it as an invitation to live life well. I’d previously been extremely stressed by things, work predominantly but now I see that actually in the scheme of things these things aren’t as important.

I’m sorry to hear your Wife is struggling with symptoms. Hopefully with the right treatment this will improve. Take care

Thanks.she really is still just coming to terms with it all and it’s forums like this and listening to other people’s coping mechanisms that really help.its great that you are looking at things so positively and have a good outlook.

Thanks again

They paid out on the Critical illness policy. It was a surprisingly simple and uneventful process. I called them, they sent me a brief form. Sent it off with a letter from the hospital confirming condition. They wrote to my consultant and made a decision about a week after his reply. They called me a few times to let me know what stage they were at. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. I'd definitely put in a call if you have Critical illness cover. I have ET Jak2 Good luck.

My consultant was slow to respond, but paid within a couple of days of receipt of his report. Good luck.

That’s brilliant news. Congratulations. I have PV Jaks 2 positive. Diagnosed 4 years ago. It takes a while to get your head around it as you don’t really understand the condition you have. I have put in a claim about 6 weeks ago and still waiting to hear. My consultant still has the form to complete. I know they are very busy. I will let you know how I get on.

All the best to you x
