Falling red blood count.

This is trinigirl. I am having a problem with my red blood count. With every blood work, it is falling a few points. I was disappointed that my haem told me not to worry now until it reaches 1 (one). I was devastated. Why wait until 1. My platelet level has been within normal range for the past year and I suggested that I just adjust the intake of Hu down to one per day instead of 2 to help this situation but he says no. Does anyone have any advice for me or has the same problem? I would appreciate any information.

I was also having a problem with bleeding in the mouth almost every day. Went to the dentist just to ensure it was not a dental problem. I was advised by my doctor to stop the aspirin for at least two weeks and then take it twice a week and see what happens. I was also experiencing spotting. I am a 64 year old female so they were concern. Any advice on this, as well. Thank you.

Forgot to mention that I was diagnosed with ET JAK2+ in 2017 although my symptoms started in 2008.

I think maybe you should get a 2nd opinion. All that bleeding doesn’t sound normal to me. Your doctor doesn’t seem to be taking it seriously. I also have ET Jak2 positive, diagnosed in 2008. You also maybe should see a gynecologist.

Good luck!

They usually like to check any gyno bleeding especially after menopause just to make sure nothing else is going on.

I agree you need a 2nd opinion, letting your red cells go that low doesn't seem right to me.

Hi fee13,

Thanks for he response. I certainly did not like the response of my haem to let the count go to 1. Will check out a 2nd opinion.

Hi Cja1956.

Thanks for your response. I have an appointment with the gyno at the end of the month. Thanks again.

I agree with the suggestions to get a second opinion. What is your current rbc?

Thanks for the response. My current rbc is 3.43. Do not want it to get any lower.

I agree with the others. Get a second opinion and do it sooner than later. A normal rbc count is around 4.5-6 so 1 is extremely low. And your bleeding may signify something more sinister is taking place.

Ouch! Please rethink your doctor. As I was in the normal range with my thrombocytes, my dr. Put me on only three 50mg aspirins a week!! When my mouth bleeds, it’s a perfect sign that says, “You are taking too much.” My doctor keeps me at around 550 thrombos. Red blood cells are important for transporting oxygen throughout the body and brain! You need them. Because I’m anemic since birth, my doc said no HU. Just Anagrelid, which doesn’t hurt my red blood cells. I’m Anemic since birth. Once I’m below 10, I start to feel it in my breathing and energy and brain. I eat liver once a week. Helps a lot. I’m now stable at around 10.5 Medium rare is best, although I prefer well done. Please only organic. Liver filters everything! Good luck Trinigirl! Anag
