Hi - anyone out there with ET, taking clopidogrel and baby aspirin and still enjoying a drink?

Hi WileyFrench

I thought I would answer whilst drinking my Prosecco. 🥂. There is a thread entitled ‘Alcohol’ from Grumpyfairy, ongoing for the last 2 days. Lots of posts. I am PV, take clopidogrel and Hydroxy and still enjoy a drink when I feel like it. Much less than I used to drink and I always ensure I drink plenty of water.

Enjoy

Sorry, I just realised you replied on the previous thread. I’m guessing your question is specific to ET, clopidogrel and baby aspirin, so my answer is not much help!

Yes it is helpful. I’m really interested in whether those who take both clopidogrel and baby aspirin are still okay to have alcohol. I sure hope so!

Hopefully, you will get some answers. I take clopidogrel instead of aspirin.

Hi. Been on Asprin or Clopidogrel and Hydroxycarbimide & Lisnopril for 5 years, still enjoy a drink 2-3 times a week..... haven't noticed any difference. - enjoy.

That’s what I like to hear! Have you ever been on clopidogrel and baby aspirin at the same time? I was clopidogrel only but now have to add baby aspirin as well.

Not at the same time - Clopidogrel replaced Asprin - it is kinder to your stomach.

Yeah - I was just aspirin till last May when I had a TIA so haemo changed to clopidogrel, but then another TIA Dec 30 so now it’s both. Sigh.

Are you taking both clopidogrel and baby aspirin? My understanding was that clopidogrel replaced aspirin. Please correct me if I’m wrong. As for the alcohol, i was told it did no harm for the occasional drink

Happy New Year Beetle. I was on aspirin, but had a reaction was taken off aspirin. Put on clopidogrel also take Hydroxycarbamide. I was told as long as I don't over indulge I can drink alcohol.

Yes I’m now on clopidogrel plus one baby aspirin.

Hi - Happy New Year! Yes hubby has been on these and so many more drugs and still enjoys a few glasses of wine. Only caveat is to try and match each glass (and not tooooo many lol!) with a glass of water. Enjoy!

He’s taken aspirin and clopidogrel at the same time? I was clopidogrel only for months but now to add in one baby aspirin.

Yes - but hubby has 75mg aspirin - not baby aspirin, but he cannot take any additional aspirin for pain relief or ibuprofen because of taking the clopidogrel as this increases the chance of bleeding.

My doctor says I can have a glass of wine now and then, but only if it’s good wine 😀

Yup. Life’s too short to drink bad wine!
