Oh Poppy, sounds nasty hope you feel better soon. I have found when taking metronidazole that I take after I have eaten as it made me unwell, better on a full stomach, plus do not drink alcohol when taking, that will really make you sick.

Hope they get that appointment soon at the hospital for you to get it sorted.

Not nice 😤

Hi, I had a bad tooth abscess twice, had to try two antibiotics before it cleared but it finally did, consultant said nothing to do with MPN or treatment, just bad tooth! Hope you get sorted soon, Frances.

dear Poppy, you poor thing. Toothache is aweful and especially annoying when you have to wait for an extraction because of a nasty abscess. I had something similar, that would have turned very nasty without antibiotics. Dentists are good with that stuff. They (and GPS) usually have little knowledge of MPNs in my experience and can be overly cautious. Make sure they have access to your haematologist’s contact information. If they have the slightest concern, they must ask for advice at the soonest and not let thus be a barrier to your treatment.

It sounds like the antibiotics are doing their job and you are over the worst. Having the extraction in hospital is the best thing. You will be fine.

Ouch very painful. I’ve had extensive extremely painful dental surgery this year. I’ve been assured that my mpn meds have not influenced my dental situation at all. The only advice I can give is try and find a diet that will maintain your health. I became more anaemic due to being unable to eat. I need more work done soon. In preparation I will get some liquid food substitutes from the chemist.

Hi I feel for you you are brave I really don’t like the dentist but I do go for my check ups I hope your work goes well and you are right I am eating all the wrong things at moment which doesn’t help a good idea about the liquid food I never thought of that good luck and thank you for your kind reply best wishes Poppy
