Excellent supplement for those on Hydroxyurea

Hi all

I have been on Hydrea for 6 years and it always freaks me out to be taking chemo meds daily. I had the genetic testing done to see where I have snips in my genes and where I need help processing fats/toxins etc and the dietician I worked with strongly recommended this supplement. It's basically like swallowing a kilo of broccoli sprouts in a pill. I give it to my kids daily too. Worth looking into to try and counteract some of the effects of the chemo. Probably a great supplement for anyone looking for optimum health.

It's called Defencell and it claims to:

- Protect cells against DNA damage

- Improve cardiovascular health

- Boost cellular Antioxidant and Detoxification defences

- Activate key enzymes

Hope that's helpful.

Jo

Hi Jo, thank you for this information, I am sure many people will find it helpful, however, I must point out that before taking any supplements or vitamins you must check with your haematologist first so that they can make sure that they do not have any contraindications with any medication you are taking. Hi Maz

Yes - checked with 2 hematologists but every case is different so best for one to check with provider

Pity it's got no magnesium in it, it's the one mineral we all short off.

Did you do the gene testing yourself or did you ask your team if it was available on the NHS

Hi Roger

I live in South Africa, so no NHS. I did the gene testing through a dietician neighbour.
