Platlets gone down.

Hey good news today my platlets have dropped slightly from 1003 to 983 only a slight difference but it’s the first time they’ve dropped since I was diagnosed in nov 2016. I’ve been working really hard in the gym recently I wonder weather this has had an effect. But what ever I’m pleased today.

Well done, always good to hear positive news.

Are you on cytoreductive therapy or have the platelets come down naturally?

Thank you, no they’ve come down naturally only a little bit. I am wondering if my exercising has anything to do with it. Thanks.

Pleased they're down. No idea if it's the gym or not. 😄👍

hi jasbak22

my platelet count has been in the 900 hundreds since my initial diagnosis two years ago. with essential thrombocythemia. (ET) i suggest taking l-arginine, which a lot of athletes do to make your blood vessels more flexible ( prevents clotting) and policosonal to lower your cholesterol, which also makes your blood thicker. i feel good most days and am now taking iron capsules for my anemia. talk to your specialist if you have e.t rather than p.v never hurts to ask. good luck

Thanks Maz.

I get excited when my platelets drop to! When I was diagnosed they were 770. (2 years ago) climbed to 970 when I was highly stressed! No good!! I got that under control and they dropped to 605! I was thrilled to bits. Now they are sitting at 660, which is not too bad. I like you, have started the gym, and work hard while I am there! I am hoping this is also maintaining my platelets?? just take aspirin. Good luck, carry on the good work, Lyn

Thanks Lyn keep up the good work. Say hello to your beautiful country for me, this time last year I was in Queenstown making my way up the hill to the Remarks. I miss that place so much.

Hi Jasbak22. I managed to bring mine down from 590 to 420 with eating fish three nights a week, drinking pomigrananite juice daily and eating the seeds every other day. It took about 6 weeks. Best wishes Mel

Thanks for advice Mel I’ll have to try drinking more pomegranate juice. When I stayed in Morocco we had fresh pomegranate everyday for breakfast with yogurt but I did find the seeds a bit too crunchy. I guess I could blend them into my smoothies. Thanks.

Great news Jasbak22 - my platelets got up to 1900 continued to climb for the first month or so that I was on Hu (I was feeling a little depressed by then) but since the dose has been increased they went down to 1605, then 1463 and yesterday got the results from a blood test taken just over a week ago of 1321. Will be interested to see next results as we have been holidaying in Darwin and doing a LOT of walking and swimming.
