Hello everyone, I had my stem cells yesterday from a 26 year old German woman, for which I am overwhelmingly grateful. Words can't express how I really feel.
At this time I feel perfectly well. The preconditioning chemo and treatments went fine and other than low level nausea and runs, it was easy enough. At this stage my hair remains intact if somewhat dirty since I am not allowed shampoo and I balk at washing my hair in Iodine scrub! Needs must though I expect. Everything else is washed in iodine scrub and then some!
I am being treated in Montpellier and the regime is very strict for which I am grateful. It makes me feel safe. The staff are simply amazingly kind and professional in bucketfuls.
So far so good but its very early days I know. Thank you all for your good wishes from my previous post. Sending you love right back. Fight the good fight.
Special hello to Gary Crapaud. xx

Good to hear the 1st phase has gone well; if all goes well, in just a couple of weeks or so your aplasia phase should have improved and controlled visits should be a little easier to handle.
Take care of yourself and hope your husband isn't too frantic with worry.
Hi, My husband has moved into an apartment in Montpellier and is doing great. He is much better now we seem to have settled into a routine. He can see I am having excellent care with lovely staff and things its great. I think its harder for them to see us like this than it is for us. I really do.
They have just put my nasal gastic tube in to supplement my feeding. I wasnt keen on that at all.
I hope you are getting less fatigue each day and are managing to enjoy summer with some nice lunches with your wife and family. My sister is on her way from Australia to support my husband. I am excited to see her.
Sending you best wishes. Jane
Hi Jane, thank you so much for the update! It's so good to hear how well you're doing. I hope you continue to do well, thinking of you and sending love and best wishes to you and your family, Christine xx
Good luck with your Rux I hope it works well for you. I was on it for about 18 mths but didn't get its full benefit. However it reduced many of my MF symptoms. . . Chris
Good start and you seem to have managed the chemo well.
Hair - lost everything except eyebrows, nasal hair and moustache. Shaved head hair(not that I had much) as soon as it started to fall out, always think it looks worse when left with clumps - looks a bit like Rab C Nesbit. It also makes showering easier which should be a daily boon and you get to see what you look like if you ever get a role in Star Trek
Sister - trust you have her at arms length in quarantine for a few days as flights are notorious for picking up colds, infections etc and you really don't need that!
I spent the next day's keeping track of my counts as they bottomed out and began to rise
Good luck Jane Am here or MPNForum if I can help or you would like to compare notes
HEY JANE GREAT NEWS !! I decided from the off I would be determined to accept everything that was asked of me whether I liked it or not to maximise my chances of a successful outcome. And it sounds like you are in the same frame of mind. It's a mental challenge as well as as a physical one as the iregimes and isolation can bite after a while. Try drink plenty and use those mouth washes !! . Thanks for posting it's brill to hear from you. Chris x
Realised you probably meant Chris number 1 LOL !! Oh well just as long as everybody keeps battling, remains positive and is as well as possible Chis number2. . .
Sounds like you have an excellent frame of mind which will help if things get difficult for awhile. Hoping they stay good. You're certainly off to a great start! Katie.
Keep up the fight my friend, it sounds like you are receiving the very best care. God bless your donor. Looking forward to positive updates, take care xx
