It was a year ago today that I had my SCT & am feeling pretty well at the moment. Things were very tough to start with & I wouldn’t have got through it without the love & support of my family, especially my husband & my 3 grown up children, also the lovely supportive messages I received from my friends.
I shall be forever grateful to my donor in America, the Anthony Nolan Trust fir finding my donor & the love & care I received from the bone marrow unit at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
Maybe I’m entitled to 2 ‘birth’days now!!
Sending best wishes to everyone.

Congratulations on your 1st Re-Birthday , , it's a milestone event for those of us fortunates who have survived the rigors that opting for SCT can expose us to. You are right to acknowledge how important having supportive family /friends is and of course the generosity of your donor. Not forgetting A.N. and your wonderful care team. Along with your fighting spirit they have all contributed to making nothing short of a miracle happen in my opinion. As it was for me a number of re-birthdays ago.I'm pleased your doing well and may you have many, many more birthdays, re-birthdays and of course cake.
Well suffice to say I'm ticking along reasonably happily and still smiling through. I have a few issues stemming from my GVHD (still active)along with treatment of same but tis a small price to pay for a second bite at life. One of the main joys is being around for my family especially our Grandkids and watching them grow, far too quickly I might add. And at the other end of the scale I've been able to help my dear old Dad in his twilight. Although I had a rough ride and a long complex recovery I have no regrets and count myself a very lucky chap indeed. . . . . Chris
my husband had his cancer treatment at the Leicester Royal Hospital and I have nothing but praise for the staff and his consultant… that is where I’m having my treatment.. so feel I’m good hands 😊
Great Chris to see you on site,I often wonder how you are,I don’t get on much myself now,M F I find hard to cope with & the horrendous heat we have here,+the transfusions & injections😱Keep going & as well as possible Chris.🥰

what a fabulous update! Very happy for you to have hard times behind you. By all means a rebirthday is called for. Thank you for sharing your SCT success. It really helps knowing good things do come from going through a long difficult journey. Best wishes.
Shirley, what a brilliant milestone. So incredibly pleased for you, that you're able to celebrate this special day, feeling well. This definitely calls for celebrations...cake at the very least. Sending big hugs from NYC.
