Hi cannonfire. Last year I managed to reduce my platelet count by 150 in a month by eating fish five times a week and drinking pomegranate juice and eating pomegranates every day plus no rubbish whatsoever. I was so chuffed with myself as I had begged my heam to give me 1 month to improve my counts as I did not want to start meds. She, sadly did not share my joy as my basophils, eisonophils, etc had all gone up and I was started on interferon the same day!!!!

I wish you luck. Mel

If you give up pizza and junk food x take always ,I guarantee you will see a difference ,,also of course canned drinks and the poison called coca cola !! I gave up alcohol but not everyone can do that ,I realise for some it's difficult ,, but I really do have a good quality of life and I'm very positive ,most of the time ,,if you try to eat and drink fresh for a few weeks and you don't feel a difference ,,you can always pop down to the nearest McDonald's and fill up on their coloured cardboard strange creations !! Twinkly xx

I asked my specialist nurse that very question and she said just eat a healthy diet which I have done for years - no processed foods, green tea, no red meat etc etc and still diagnosed with ET!

Yoga Lover, what is wrong with GREEN TEA, when I had cancer three years ago all the Dr said GREEN TEA, drink as much as you can! Now you said your nurse said to stay away from it??? I am very confused as I thought green tea was healthy. Please let me know because I drink it everyday! Thanks

Green tea is good as far as I'm aware. Just read my post again and it doesn't read right! Apologies for the confusion x

Hey Cannonfire I have tried to explore the question of diet effecting platelet counts`. Twinkly has offered sage like advice in the past (I hope I got That right) . Eat healthy whole foods and minimise the animal based protein seems to be the go`` If it doesnt do any thing for platelets .. at least its still healthy. Twinkly rec'ed the book the China Study. Its interesting and thought provoking. Somewhere else I read that tumeric is an anti platelet agent.. But there are problems with absorption etc. All the best. Sorry this is ill written. I keep on loosing the internet and am consequently rushing. Jan
