Hi. Yes follow devised diet and drink alcohol mostly red wine and not to excess. Just had bloods so see what results are.

Thankyou - you say a devised diet - do you mean just a generally healthy diet ?

There is an ongoing Anti Inflamation diet for MPNS in the States but I haven’t been able to access diet sheet. There is a photo of blueberries though!

I think the logic is that linked to inflammation so avoid inflammatory foods.

A quick Google search will identify top anti inflammatory foods (basically fruit/veg, oily fish, whole grains, nuts). More obscurely, I have green/camomile tea and very dark 99% chocolate.

Avoid all oils other than olive and coconut.

Try to consume more Omega 3 than 6 (6 inflammatory eg veg oil)

Avoid sugar and refined (white flour/pasties) and processed

Meant to avoid alcohol but that is just a bridge too far! I drink about c. 25 units red wine a week incl 3 days off.

Imo exercise also critically important. I try to do > 10K steps a day plus gym work.

And drink plenty of water, especially after 25 units of wine...

Thankyou for replying! I really appreciate the advice I’m getting. How much water is “plenty” and do you drink tap water or bottled?

I've started a strict healthy diet regime and it's paid dividends! I also swim an hour twice a day. Not only is the weight falling off but my liver enzymes has reduced dramatically!

They do say that exercise really does help even when you don't feel like it. I have more energy than I've ever had before (a bit too much sometimes!) and all my bloods are within normal range.

Hi, I eat healthily and buy organic when I can, lots of fruit and veg and drink water all day. I occasionally drink wine, my consultant told me it would have no effect at all on my meds or my blood counts, of course one should be sensible. Best wishes, Frances.

Definitely anti-inflammatory diet, dairy, milk etc. is inflammatory. Try to eat lean meats, healthy oils/fats, lots of fruits and vegetables, and pure water. Organic if you can. Avoid processed foods, and sugar.

Two doctors in USA have written general books on eating to prevent disease and cancer.

Joel Fuhrman, Super Immunity

Dr. Junger, Clean

The books are not mpn specific but they address cancer prevention, and how inflammation drives disease development.

Take care.
