Petechiae

Morning all, hope everyone is as well as can be... :-)

Does anyone have petechiae spots?

Over the last few days I have noticed them appearing on my chest, stomach, back and thighs and wondered if this is normal or something to do with HU and my platelets dropping, last count they were 400 which is okay.

Thanks in advance

hi, yes I have a rash of these. I think they appeared when my bloods were poorly controlled and I had high counts on nearly everything, also taking HU. My haem says nothing to do with my PV but I don't believe him! Seem to have stopped or slowed down at the moment: my bloods now better controlled. They don't go away by themselves, was wondering about getting rid of them? good luck jane

Hi Jane

Very random.. Mine bloods were all pretty stable so no idea whats going on apart from the mysteries of having ET... ;-)

Morning Katsy,

Yes I've had Petechiae aswell, mine became quite troublesome after stopping Interferon Alpha along with other issues, I was givenFexofenadine Hydrochloride (antihistamine) by hem but my skin took ages to respond to meds, Ican't remember if I read it was related to rare side effects of HU or a complication of our ET ( we do so much research trying to keep well) but hem agreed it was probably related, I would bring it up at next hospital visit, or give them a call just for reassurance. Also my bloods were all in normal range at the time. Take Care, keep well

It is a rarer side effect of Hydroxy . I tend to get them on hands and legs and especially on knuckles even when bloods are stable . My consultant said not to worry as long as any red spot does not turn into a septic spot or ulcer . If that happens to see go asap . Hope this helps .
