I tried Pegasys twice and it did not work for me. My mood defiantly changed and the side effects were not for me. I became tolerant to Hydrea and now I'm on Anagrelide (0.5mg twice a day). Has your doctor provided this option? Everyone's bodies are different and tolerate medications in their own way. Wishing you the best!

Unfortunately mood alteration is a known possible SE for Pegasys. The good news is that there are other options - do you have an MPN specialist on your care team? Perhaps Hydroxyurea or another medicine might work without the mood side effects. Best of luck!

Thankfully I have a great care team , just couldn’t change the medication today as another appointment would have to be made xx

One of the reason I stopped taking Besremi was due to the emotional impact. I am now in Jakafi and my emotional state has markedly improved. Initial assessments are also indicating it is controlling my blood profile

Hi, I changed to pegasys 6 months ago and noticed very quickly that my mood had become a bit 'flat' but I wanted to come off hydroxy as my dosage was being increased in line with my increasing platelet level. The pegasys is doing the job at reducing platelets and I am currently on 45mcg every two weeks. I exercise a lot and feel much better after this but I do find it is now becoming difficult to motivate myself, if it was not for the fact that I am a very disciplined person then I would need to think again about the pegasys. I was hoping after this period of time that I would be used to the new drug and my mood would have settled down but has remained the same, if it gets no worse I am happy to stick with it for the benefit of reducing platelet levels. Good luck

Yes I tried Pegasys for awhile as well but found my mood was flat and at other times really down. I'll never forget getting a tour of this fantastic resort/gym that had the perfect outdoor 25yd. lap pool in Az. and my affect was completely flat and unexcited!! This was really weird especially since I'm a huge lap swimmer. This drug did not work for me and I was only on 22.5mg. My advice, find another drug that suites you better. Best wishes. Kerry
