Bad migraines
Hi Carolyn
Sorry to hear about your never ending migraines.
I used to have the same problem. I tried a multitude of things.
You may have done this already, but I would advise anyone with this problem, to see a General Practitioner.
Unfortunately, a lot of medication for migraine, has horrible side effects.
I have gone down the alternate route, which can have side effects too. At present, I am taking 'Devils Claw' capsules, which can be found in health shop, or on line. I find that it works very well for around 4 hours . Then I have to take another one or I take 'Kalms' ( Valerian) .
For immediate relief, I rubbed ibuprofen gel 10%, on my head. I carry it everywhere.
Hope this helps you.
I tried different things out of desperation. Over the counter medication, gave me awful side effects or didn't work.
Sleep well for 8 hours and always at the same time every night
Eat well and at the same times every day
Cut down on sugar and junk food
Keep stress levels to a minimum
Do yoga
Get sunlight on your skin for vitamin D
Read as much as you can about how to help yourself
Don't overdo it though as it can get very confusing
Look after you, do nice things for you ( massage, spa)
Get help at GP , neurologist
Meet people, have fun, gentle exercise
Sadly there is no magic cure!
Take your prescribed tablets if they help but only when you absolutely have to
Good luck
Hi Carolyn.
Sorry to hear about your terrible migraines.
Have you tried herbal tablet called, 'devils claw?' It worked well for me. A bit expensive. Found in health shops or on line. Also, giving up chewing gum every day, also helped.
Wish you all the best.
