Migraines: Just wanted to ask if u get... - National Migraine...
Migraines
It could be. Migraine is usually one sided, but I find it can move from one side to the other and at times is over the whole head. It often lasts for three days, and there is the build up and the recovery phase as well as that.
However, there are many kinds and causes of headache so you do need to see a doctor.
Especially if it is going on and on and not stopping, or getting worse - you might need to go to A&E.
Have you tried any painkillers? I get headaches (severe) which can be one sided, around eyes, temple or often whole head. It could be migraine, cluster headache or combination - the doctors could not make up their mind in my case what to call but they refer migraine! If I do not take painkillers (early) or triptans the headache never goes away!
Have you seen your GP or doctor? It is important that a doctor (not nurse) examines your case. You may not find an immediate solution but they may guide you to a right direction.
Hi Hidden,
I get those, I lie in bed with my head on a heating pad, take my triptans and pain killers, and hope to fall asleep. Some people use ice packs instead of heat.
These sound like my migraines - feels like my skull is being crushed in an ever tightening vice. Can't sleep properly for maybe 3 nights. Can barely stand, severe nausea, can't function for thoe days, etc. But as others have highlighted you need to go to a doctor to get YOUR diagnosis as there are so many reasons which could be behind your episodes. They are frightening when you are going through them, but you can't suffer alone in silence. Seek medical advice. Best wishes.
I would not like to say ,I have suffered for 45yrs with aura migraines, and I dont recognise your symptoms , but every body is different , and there are different types of migraines , but I do recommend you as to see a specialist doctor through your GP , who deals with migraine suffers .Dont suffer seek help good luck
When I get a full blown migraine I am the same. I just can't get up from the bed. Pain in the jaws and behind one eye is unbearable. The pain can make me vomit and I can't stand light or noise. Really awful and can last for a full 24 hours. I have had to get the doctor to come in to see me as I can't even stand up. Twice they have given me an injection for this and within 45 minutes I felt like a new person. I have no idea what the injection was but it worked and felt like a miracle had occurred. I feel very sluggish and weak for a couple of days afterwards and want to sleep alot.
I can very much relate to your symptoms ~ I'd spend 3 days being so highly nauseated/vomiting, lying across the bed, my backside up in the air (not a pretty picture), but anything which relieved the pain, in any way, I was willing to do. The pain in my head was excruciating. Medications weren't working. I used to get Pethidine injections on a regular basis but no-one recognised the 'symptoms' as I didn't initially have an 'aura'!
However, it hit in once when I was staying at my Cousins ~ and she was a major Migraine sufferer. She knew immediately what was happening to me. She gave me 50mg Imigran ~ and within three hours, not three days, I was back to feeling semi-human! For me, it was a 'miracle' cure. ❤️️😊
I discussed it with the GP and she was happy enough to give me a trial of Imigran ~ and although I can get an onset which has little or no warning, the Imigran thankfully does it's magic and has done for years, even though I get cluster migraines at times.
But ~ you do need to see a GP and discuss the matter further ~ and hopefully get relief from even a trial of Imigran (I can only use the GSK brand, as I have so many allergies to meds, particularly the generic 'parallel import' meds). I'm in the UK.
Wishing you good fortune in talking to your Doc. B xx
