Hi Llama215
Please be careful as only a medical professional can diagnose a medical condition.
People can give their opinions, but they will usually only be that an opinion...
Is there any other professionals that you can speak to about your concerns?
Amanda
Hi Lliama,
I'm feeling a bit confused. Are you & Susie related?
I could'nt say if you'd ADD/ADHD. My nephew has had it from a young boy from primary school years, he is now 17 & still suffers but is refusing to take his medication anyonger. because he does'nt like the side effect of the sweating he's doing when his freinds are not. Alk I can tell you is it took his Mum a long time & patience in having him diagnosed az she herself knew there was something wrong with him. He also had dyspraxia & had to have a lot of help at school through the persistence of his Mum.
He used to see a child physcologist but I dont know what is going to happen now because of bis age but I do know his Mum is finding it tough in dealing with his outbursts & mood swings. I think maybe a lot of it is to do with his hormones from being a boy to becoming a young man.
Your therapist should know the signs. How old are you & why are you seeing a therapist?
Wishing you luck.
Jackie
I'm 17 and I'm seeing a therapist for my anxiety but I also talked to her about the ADD/ADHD
And no we arent related lol
Related? What made you think that? Lol! X
Hi Llama215 - sorry to hear you have lost your dad - must be tough for you and your mum. Do you have brothers or sisters or other relatives that can help?. Teenage years can be difficult with all the hormonal changes and I think that this along with the loss of your Dad is most likely what is causing the attention difficulties you are experiencing. Things will get better for you and your mum - counselling can really help you get through difficult times - sometimes its good to just get things off your chest. Please let us know how you are getting on and continue speaking to your therapist about your concerns of ADD/ADHD - from what I know of these conditions they seem to be diagnosed in younger kids so I would think either your family or school would have picked up on any signs before now. However I am not an expert and would advise you to speak to professionals about this - your therapist should be able to help. It might seem difficult but try to make time to do things you enjoy or have enjoyed in the past - do you enjoy watching films or playing sport or playing/listening to music?
Take care
Debbie
