Hello I am new to HealthUnlocked. I was prescribed Sertraline 50mg a month ago for Anxiety and Insomnia. I new with this drug that things would get worse before they get better but I have had awful side effects mostly increased anxiety and insomnia. I have read a lot of the experiences of being on Sertraline on this forum and it has given me hope that things will improve and the drug will start to kick in. Today my GP increased my dose to 75mg with a view to going to 100mg gradually. The GP has also given me Melatonin for my insomnia which I am about to start taking. I would like to hear any positive experiences of sertraline and how long it takes to work?

I didn't like sertraline but I've seen positive posts about it x
Hi. I have been in sertraline for two years now. I do remember my anxiety increased at the beginning and l almost gave up taking it. It took about 3 months and has made a big difference.Everyone noticed how much better I am mentally. (Although l do have lots of other health issues)
Try to stick it out.
I started off on 100 mgs and it just made me worse. However when it was upped to 150 it was like a miracle. Be patient while your dose is being tinkered with to find that sweet spot.
It doesn't work for everyone though so after giving it a good try you might need to change. Sertraline was my 3rd one.
