going back to work

I have had a relatively small amount of time off work (3 weeks) due to depression. I wanted to return on Monday but the closer it is getting the worse I am feeling. I met my mum and sister yesterday, I was out for about 4 hours and when I got in I just felt exhausted both mentally and physically and now today I feel like hiding away again.

I’m not sure what to do for the best, if staying off work is going to prolong the inevitable or if I really do need more time before returning.

Hi Kelly I had 5 months off due to a breakdown and depression talk to your doctor or occupational health only you know when you are ready to go back.its unnerving at first as your thoughts are all over the place some understanding and others not ask for phased return only so many days a week at first mental health and wellbeing are massive now.take care and be kind to yourself.
