Has anyone had good experiences of venlafaxine helping with depersonalisation, anxiety, panic and depression?? I’m suffering severely from these and wondered if venlafaxine has helped anyone get back on their feet and back to a normal life. I’ve tried everything else and this and lithium are my only hope x please respond ❤️❤️

I have not used this medication, however you need to accept we all have different side effects from various medications, although generally side effects vary from patient to patient. You mention been on the drug for quite a long time, if the side effects are bad, talk to your Doctor

What medication have you used and did it help? X

I take Citalopram and Amatrytalene, the latter for joint and nerve damage, I am slowly coming of some of my drugs because of age. Also I have reduced the Citalopram, again for my age.

We are all different when it comes to medications, generally your GP will need to take other medications you take into consideration

Follow your Doctors advice

Thank you - I just can’t seem to tolerate anything. Citalopram too made me agitated and twitchy and I had to pace on it. I’m getting worried x

Sometimes it can take about five weeks or more to feel any benift from this medication what suit one may not be the best for you so your GP should work on your medications with you however, if you keep asking for change the mumber of suitable medications is not infinate so the need to be patient is very important

Consider trying Relaxation Technique Mindfulness, books on Amazon

Controlled Breathing can also help.

I've been on Venlafaxine for some years now. I suffer from depression, anxiety, some ocd, and bpd like traits. It's definitely helped to stabilise me, I tried reducing recently and had to go back to my original dose as I started to struggle again.

Obviously this won't be the case for everyone, and I'm also on Quetiapine which may help in conjunction with the venlafaxine.

But if no others have helped, I'd definitely recommend giving them a go. They can be a little hard to get hold of here and there as they're not one of the more popular choices, so make sure you request them fairly early :) hope this helped!

Thank you! I’m not sure I can take it again as last night I took 75mg and I was so agitated, pacing, twitching everywhere and up all night - felt like I was on really bad speed, totally wired....did that happen to you until it settled at all?? X

How are you doing? I am new here. Venlafaxine is the only drug that has ever worked for my bipolar depression - some of the symptoms sound similar to yours. I have been on venlafaxine since it was available in the UK in 1995. Before that they tried everything for about 10 years. Venlafaxine does not work for everyone and its not the easiest to come off - I tried - but as well as the side effects of coming off it the original illness returned. I have lived a normal life and had normal ups and downs and no bipolar illness since being on it. Post-covid brain fog is the only thing that has disturbed the illness and I was wondering if others had had the same- it's early days I got covid at the beginning of August.

I couldn’t keep taking it as I got relentless pacing so on fluoxetine....so glad you found something to help after all those years, you must have been so relieved!! Severe anxiety is so debilitating. Btw your post Covid fog will go, I’ve had a few friends who have had Covid and their brain fog went after a few weeks, it just really wipes you out and takes a while to recover ❤️ Xxx

Ah, fluoxetine on its own made me angry and want to trash the place... Glad it is working for you. My post-Covid medication increase is working. Time for bed.
