Burning sensations in the legs and feet

I'm experiencing burning/heat in the legs and feet and have been on 50 mg sertraline for 5 weeks. Haven't had any physical injuries recently to cause nerve damage. Anyone experienced burning sensations while taking sertraline? If so, do they eventually subside?

I suffer PsA and that effects my small joints and also my spine and neck, I also suffer problems with my Legs, I have taken AD Medications now for over forty years and have been taking Cox 2 medications now for many years I do on occassions suffer the same feelings and they have put it down to nerve and tendon damage, I am seventy years old. I find if I sit for long periods I get similar sensations especially if I fail to move around so if this is happening with you try moving around and rotate your ankles and feet, moving the hips may also help. I also suffer a feeling of insects or something crawling over my legs If I am sitting for long periods

I do not know your age and you have any underlining problems like Arthritis or restricted blood supplies, that can cause similar problems.

If you wish to check up on the Side effects of this medications, try the NHS SITE there you can enter the drug name to find relevent side effects. You can also check side effects in the medication list in the packet, they have the list of problems you may have.

I would advise however if you have any doubts talk to your Doctor especially if you are taking any other medications, you may be suffering contraindications.

Five weeks you should be feeling the benefit of the medication, however it is still early days

Thanks for your experience Bob. I'm 78 with arthritis in back, neck, etc. Deep veins in legs are clear, no DVTs, which ruled them out for causing heat and burning sensations. The burning started about the time of beginning sertraline, causing me to question the drug as the culprit. Perhaps I'm dealing with some contraindication. I take many meds for all kinds of ailments. Hello Harley

Have they considered D3 tablets and B12 injections, both do help with joint pain and do have an effect on joints and tendons. It may also help you to keep moving that will loosen the tendons and also loosen tendons in the shoulders From C1-10 can tighten up the tendons and nerves in shoulder and neck. The problem we have as we get older we do suffer referred pain into areas that need to be loosened and freed, that is my problem because of nerve damage. Remember your arthritis will effect joints this will and can effect nerves and tendons hence the sensations you are feeling .

Have you tried a TENS Machine or Pain Pen or similar, they can help.

I take a long list of medications all to do with pain and inflamation and other problems associated with my underlying conditions, It took the Doctor and hospital a long time to mix and match medications. Have you been to see the Pain Clinic ?? Pain is associated with the stress you feel due to your joint damage. This can stress anyone and we can become overwhelmed

I'm waiting to get scheduled with a neurologist so I assume they will look at nutrient parameters as a cause of burning.Ed
