I've been taking sertaline for a couple of months now but not been helping, so the doctor has put me on new medication called mirtazapine and I take this one at night, do I still take sertaline in the morning and mirtazapine at night or just stick to 1???

Have you talked to your Doctor regards taking these two medications together ?.

Hi I think you should check with your dr. I am on a combo of venlafaxine and mirtazapine but best to check
I definitely would talk to the doctor or the pharmacist (chemist). Both sertraline and mirtazapine work on serotonin. My instinct would be to just change to the new one. Call to verify. My doctor usually adds a message to the pharmacy saying to stop one and start the other.
I switched from sertraline to mirtazapine, I took them both initially, low doses whilst I tapered of one and into the other, then increased mirtazapine and decreased and eventually stopped sertraline. I would give your GP a call or pharmacist who prescribed them for you to triple check which way you should be going with them though. Hope you get on better with the mirtazapine 🤞
