I didn't want to title this "Happy Christmas" because for a lot of people, this Christmas will not be happy.
But that's okay.
There is such a stigma about having to be happy at Christmas and I want you to know that it's okay if you're not.
Mental health disorders do not disappear over the Christmas period, despite how brilliant that would be.
But also don't beat yourself up for being happy at Christmas.
Have that extra mince pie, go out to enjoy the Christmas lights, watch your cheesiest Christmas film, laugh with the people around you.
Don't feel as though your mental disorder is 'fake' just because you have a good day, or because you were able to laugh without feeling guilty.
I hope you can truly find some happiness over this Christmas period and for once, not be held back by your illness because your illness does not define you, YOU DO!
Shine on
