I just joined this support group. I have been prisoner of my negative thoughts for over a year now. Sometimes I feel very rejected, abandoned and unloved. I have self diagnosed depression and anxiety; haven’t consulted a doctor and not taking any medications. I am in graduate studies about to write my thesis. However, the times when I get the attack of anxiety and depression I waste many days and lose motivation to go on with my life. I feel very helpless as I don’t have anybody, anymore, in whom I can find support and solace. Please help me and save me from this dreadful state of mind.
Thanks!

Have you thought about seeing someone about your anxiety they might help, this site is a good place for support of even if you just want to get something off your chest . I am sorry you don't feel you have anyone to talk to but this is a good place for that. Even if you just want to chat about anything just message .. Do you have family you could talk to?
Thank you for your reply! I am alone away from home. I do have a supportive and loving family. But they are far away and I am at university for my graduate studies. Moreover, I have become so numb lately that I don’t feel like talking to my family or friends. I am distancing myself from everyone. Sometimes I bounce back cheerfully and I’m talking to everyone but other times I withdraw myself from the outside world. I do not know how to end this cycle.
You could try your medication and see if that helps - results after a few weeks or just ask GP to refer you to someone you can talk to.
Hi MihirP and welcome to this caring forum where you will receive help and support from other members who wil understand what you are going through. As stated on the forum "content on Health Unlocked does not replace the relationship between you and doctors or other healthcare professionals nor the advice you receive from them." Please make an appointment to see your GP who will be able to advise and support you. He/she will be able to make a diagnosis and suggest the appropriate treatment, such as medication or one of the talking therapies [counselling or cognitive behavioural therapy] or a combination of these. You will then begin to feel better and more able to cope with writing your thesis. This must be stressful for you when you are not feeling well.
Also, is there a counselling service at your university? You do not state which country you are from but if you are distressed and are in the UK, please call--
The Samaritans Freephone 116 123 [24 hour helpline] 7 days a week. They provide a listening ear. If you live outside of the UK and are distressed, please have a look at the Pinned Posts section of the screen which includes Free Mental Health Guides and International Crisis Support Helplines.
Thank you very much for your message. I consulted a GP and the doctor made no attempt to understand the full situation. Doctor seemed to be rushing as it was a walk-in clinic. I was prescribed an antidepressant drug, but I never went to pharmacy for that. I was not suicidal at all so I was afraid of developing suicidal thoughts after taking drugs.
So, I then decided to give counselling a try. I went to the student services at the university to get some help. The counselor I met advised me to do yoga, meditation and exercise. But nothing is doing the trick.
Hi MihirP seems you're going through a lot but we're more than conquers. We have tough times but when we face rough time just look to God and he'd ease your trials. Not to be a preacher girl lol that's the last thing you'd want at this point but maybe you can try reaching out to him for help. Jesus Christ that is, he's always there. Be blessed.
How and why you feel so depressed needs to be looked into by your GP. I would advise you make that appointment in the first instance and arrange some treatment
You need to come to terms with you mood and associated depression. One way to try is split each problem into small bites, take on each small nibble individually and try and sort out that minimal concern, then move onto the next bite and do the same thing until each bite is controlled and that way you will become more confident and positive.
You can also try Mindfulness Relaxation Technique, books explaining the technique can be purchased on Amazon. Last week I saw a book for sale at a National Trust property for about £7.00. This way may help you relax.
