Well autumn is here and I already deal with bipolar depression and anxiety and with now the day coming to an end earlier and earlier I don’t want to fall into a depression because it’s getting darker sooner.
I did good this summer a few episodes of depression here and here but the Winter is or feels at least so much longer due to the fact because it starts to get darker earlier right about now.
I hate feeling or being depressed it affects me way too much because anxiety is usually mixed in and it affects my job which I don’t know how much longer they will tolerate when I do have these mixed phase attacks. At times it just hits me out of nowhere and then I’m panic stricken.

Have you heard about the light therapy? I will leave you this link down below , maybe that could be something you are interested in. I have heard people liking this for the winter season and improved their mood but I haven’t tried personally.
Hi Loki1018 and a warm welcome to this caring forum, where you will receive support from other members. It would be advisable for you to see your doctor to discuss how you are feeling [particularly how you feel about it getting darker sooner] then he/she would be able to discuss with you if you have Seasonal Affective Disorder [S.A.D] and the treatments available. Also, please consult your doctor before taking any medicines that have not been prescribed.
A number of treatments are available for Seasonal Affective Disorder including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, antidepressants and light therapy. Your doctor will recommend the most suitable treatment option for you, based on the nature and severity of your symptoms. This may involve using a combination of treatments to get the best results. Please also see the Pinned Posts section on the forum which you may find helpful, including ways to cope with anxiety. Try to practice some relaxation and do things that you enjoy as this should also help.
Are any other forum members able to help Loki1018, please?
Hi Loki1018 . I was diagnosed with S.A.D a few years ago as i have exactly the same symptoms which you have. I was advised to buy a light box which i did and this helped me considerably. I use it every year when the nights are getting darker. It wasn't cheap to buy but it has really helped me. Light therapy may not work for everybody and it may be worth going to your doctor to see what he/she advise.
Hi, I bought a Light Box from Boots.but only used one Winter and didn’t find it any help. If anyone wants to buy I will sell at half price. As it’s glass you would need to live in the Wigan area to collect
im the opposite bit of a winter lover myself.do you have a garden of your own if you have you could deck it out with nice lighting make it have a warmer brighter feel about it.
I’m sorry to hear this, I suffer from SAD too however last few years I’ve been better, it’s almost like it disappeared. I use a light therapy box in the mornings when I feel like SAD is creeping up on me
