Socially awkward

I went out for dinner with my friend this evening, I'm 24 and we have know each other since primary school. We have a lot in common but I'm massively struggling in social situations, I'll shut myself away.

I just felt really low the whole time and wanted to cry. He tries to understand but cos he's never experienced it everything's just hard.

Anyone else here on a lot of medication and have this problem? How do you do it?

I have the same exact same problem, I feel very socially awkward in public and I know I would be that away around friends. Unfortunately I don’t have magical advice but just know you are not the only one struggling with this problem. Social anxiety can be a pain.

Hi @indervir is it like a chat show when you can phone up?

AD medications with Anxiety and depression can be problematic our Social Graces take a knock and life can become unbearable when out in Society, we can also lock ourselves away and this can make matters worse because we can imagine many things and our concerns are made worse when we close the doors upon our outside live choices.

You can ask your GP for help with your Anxiety, you are dIverting yourself from friends and those around you. Aversion therapy with your own input should help so talking out your problems with a therapist should help you gain confidence and then move on in a more positive fashion.

Talk to your GP and see what can be arranged, remember medications will help, you need patience. It will be you with help from yourself and those around you eventually, hopefully you will move on in a positive fashion

Thanks again for your help Bob:)

At least your mate tries to understand I had people do a runner from me when I cried in front of some friends when they upset me ... It taught me who was true and fake. Consider yourself one lucky girl. And yeah they won't understand just like I had mates that were depressed dint understand not till I was depressed myself. I ain't on meds but I do have social anxiety not with friends with strangers.
