Cbt therapy issues trigger warnings

I recently just started cbt therapy. It does not feel the same as my old therapy. The therapist does not seem to have much compassion. I feel uncomfortable with her and I feel like she just blows off my problems and thinks the solution is simple. The things said in this therapy such as to not think about my future to much, and take it one step at a time, I have been told so many times and it does not click, especially since I can’t control these suicidal thoughts, And after my last session i felt down. My suicidal ideation does not help, and I feel like no one understands what I am dealing with. Sometimes I don’t want help for my problems I just want somebody to listen and hopefully know why I want to kill my self and give me reassurance that it is okay.

Hi I understand exactly what you are saying as I have suicide ideation and also suicidal thoughts regularly. The way I deal with the latter is to promise myself every day that this won't be the day I do it. This helps enormously coz it then leaves me free to enjoy the day.

CBT is a preferred therapy coz it is quick and cheap. In the UK it is the first option and is also measurable and observable whereas other therapy isn't. This pleases the powers that be. I did have cbt myself but found it useless as I was well aware of the cycles they talk about. Also there were just 3 in my group and the last one only 2. I was 10 minutes late as my work wouldn't let me leave sooner and spent the whole of the last session with the counsellors concentrating on the other person and completely ignoring me. It wasn't until the last 10 minutes that I said something, but it left me with a bad feeling.

Having said that accept it as it is and it might help a bit. It does sound though like you need a talking therapy rather than just this. If you are in the UK you have to jump through the hoops first to move on to the next stage. x

Thanks for your reply, Im in the US and I think it is the same principle here where insurance companies prefer cbt therapy because it is short term. I mean to be fair i just started the cbt about 2 weeks ago, but the things I am being told I have already been told, example take things slowly, and for me it just does not click and seems like it might be a waste of time. At this point to be honest I don't care for the help anymore it seems to hard and requires to much dedication which i just don't have the power to do.
