Hello SirensPoison

Thank you for your message. I am sorry to hear about your break up with your boyfriend. Could you tell us more about your circumstances and what has been happening?

It might be that you have had a difficult and stressful time and extra sleep is nature’s way of giving you some healing and recuperation. As you say it could also be linked to depression.

Maybe you could go and discuss this with your doctor ,so they can assess this and offer you some support.

Our members may have more experience that they can share with you.

The topics and pinned posts may offer more information.

Do get back to us and let us know how you are.

Best wishes

I suppose looking back on the relationship, it was abit stressful, he would always want sex and always wanted me to do things his way and look how he wanted

You do not mention what mental health problems you have

Sorry to hear about your break up with your boyfriend. Sometimes if we have been going through stressful times we may have problems sleeping as we mull through the days uncertainties and problems. It sounds like the relationship did not ring all your bells and if there was problems your sleep may have been troubled

You have not mentioned if you are taking medications, or if you were stressed or depressed in any way. Sometimes when problems clear you will begin to sleep better. Also if you are taking AD Medications you may be catching up on sleep, or the drugs are affecting your sleep as well.

I generally sleep quite well on my medications and I have been on them for quite a long time now. If you are having problems with sleep, sleeping in or been unable to sleep your GP can be approached. If you awake refreshed in the morning and sleep well at night do not knock it.

Heya, yeh i do have depression and anxiety and when he lived with me i struggled to sleep and always had to wake up before he did so i could wake him up, he was controlling too.. maybe its all the weight being lifted off of my shoulders... I've never been able to go to sleep very easily even before being diagnosed. I still struggle going to sleep but sleeping till the afternoon

If you oversleep that needs to be sorted. I have found that I need to get up the same time each day the same applies at night. Eventually you will get back to regular sleep/wake time. If you are still very low with depression your GP will need to know
