Hello!

I have an appointment with my doctor later to go on lamotrigine for bi polar.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience taking it as I want to know if it will help with the depression I experience or will I still have to take anti depressants?

Thanks,

Mel

Hi Mel!

I guess you've already had your appointment by the time you read this - I hope it went well.

I take aripipozole, which is a mood stabiliser, but I also take fluoxetine, which was originally prescribed for my depression.

Hope that helps x

H MelodyLeigh, Here is some information on Lamotrigine (Lamictal) is originally an anticonvulsant (anti-epileptic), but given now also as a mood stabilizer in Bipolar Disorder for severe depression.

Also read through your Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) contained in your medicine box. You can find a copy if you've lost it by following this link and typing in the search box the name of your medicine:

Hope this helps demystify things a bit for you.

Take care,
