My Daughter has spent 20 months in 3 different mental health units and is at home with us now. she is taking antipsychotic drugs clorazapine to combat voices, her day is almost the same every day, she spends most of the morning in bed, gets up at lunchtime, has lunch, sits down watches a bit of TV and then goes back to sleep again. She will not go out anywhere on her own, she says she feels safe at home. she will not leave the house without me or mum, I want to get her out to a support group but from what I have seen there is not much for young people until you are 18 and transferred to adult mental health. They told us when she was in hospital that there was going to be all this support but the only support is occasional appointments. What are young people supposed to do in between?. I can only take her for a walk or to the shops so many times. I am not trained in mental health. It is very difficult to find out how she feels. I don't know what to do. Everyday is like groundhog day, the same day over and over again until there is an appointment. What do other people do?

Hi SeratoninSunrise and welcome to the forum. This must be a very difficult situation for you. Could you contact your daughter's mental health team and ask if a support worker could visit your daughter? It would help if she could meet with other young people. I have done some research and found the following information which I hope will be of benefit to you both.--
A guide to the NHS child and adolescent mental health services [CAMHS] for young people and parents. This service assesses and treats young people with emotional, behavioural or mental health difficulties. There is also a parent's helpline available. P lease see--

If you go onto MIND charity website and type into the search bar on the right of the screen----support groups for young people with mental health difficulties, you will find some information regarding support in various areas of the UK.

Please stay on this caring forum where you will receive support from other members. Are there any other forum members able to help SeratoninSunrise, please? Thank you and best wishes.
Thank you for your reply. She has already gone through CAMHS and through the hospital units and come out the other side. I feel like CAMHS have let her down since she left hospital. She is waiting for an appointment to see a psychatrist but its what I can do to help in the days/weeks/months waiting for appointment/transfer to adult mental health.
